Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the greatest threats to human health worldwide. Inappropriate antimicrobial use leads to both poor patient outcomes and excess costs. WHO estimates that by 2050 AMR will be the cause of 10 million deaths/year, along with a reduction of 2 to 3.5% in GDP. It is therefore not a choice, but a responsibility of every future clinician to be trained and informed about the possible solutions to this problem, one of them being Antibiotic Stewardship. Antibiotic stewardship is the effort to measure and improve how antibiotics are prescribed by clinicians and used by patients.
In keeping with that theme, I am proud to announce that I have completed the ''Antibiotic Stewardship'' course provided by Stanford University.
